Carrick-on-Suir will proudly celebrate St Patrick’s Day with one of its biggest ever parades featuring 40 floats, marching groups and bands.

Organisers are appealing to the people of the town and surrounding hinterland to turn out in force to cheer on the hundreds of participants in the pagaent through the town centre.

Parade participants will assemble at the Fair Green Car Park at 2.30pm on Saturday and the pageant will kick off at 3pm.

It will proceed up New Street, travel down Main Street and down Kickham Street and finish back at the Fair Green.

The viewing stand from where local dignitaries, including Mayor of Carrick-on-Suir Cllr Patsy Fitzgerald, will watch the parade will be in Kickham Street rather than in front of the Town Hall on New Street.

There will be free parking in the town centre car parks between 2pm and 6pm on Saturday to accommodate motorists attending the parade. Carrick-on-Suir Town Clerk Michael O’Brien agreed to councillors’ requests to provide this free parking at a meeting of the Town Council on Monday.
