Ballygiblin Premier Junior hurlers had a well merited 1- 13 to 0- 8 win over Buttevant in the Hibernian Hotel Premier JHC quarter final in Kildorrery on Saturday evening. At half time Ballygiblin wind assisted led 0-9 to 0-3. A goal early in the second half by Shane Cahill proved decisive with Ballygiblin recording an 8 point win. They now face Harbour Rovers in the semi final this week end. It was a week end where four local teams will now contest the Premier JHC semi finals this week end Harbour Rovers (Glanworth) beat Newtown 0-22 to 0- 18. Ballyhooly had a 4 – 17 to 3- 10 win over Churchtown with Kildorrery beating Kilworth 2- 20 to 2-7. The semi finals will take place this week end Ballygiblin v Harbour Rovers and Ballyhooly v Kildorrery.


Mitchelstown Minor A footballers are through to the championship semi final. On Thursday evening last they had a 1-10 to 2- 4 win over Buttevant at Kildorrery. Mitchelstown were the better side all through but two second half goals for Buttevant had them right back in the hunt 0-10 to 2-3. A late Michael Walsh goal sealed victory. Town now face Dromtarriffe in the semi final. The death occurred on July 26 at St Patrick’s Community Nursing Hospital, Fermoy, of Eileen Fraher (Nee Noonan) Tooreigh, Knockanevin. There was a large attendance at the removal from her son’s residence on Saturday evening to nearby Shraherla Church and also at the Requiem mass and burial on Sunday. Interment took place to Mitchelstown Church Cemetery. To her husband Eddie daughters Mary (O’Neill), Eilish (Thornton), Ann, sons John, William, and Eamonn, sons in law, daughter in law, sister Catherine, brothers in law, sisters in law, grandchildren, relatives neighbours and many friends we tender our sincere sympathy.


The death occurred on July 27 at Corpus Christi Nursing Home, Mitchelstown, of Michael Casey, 10 Liam Lynch Park Mitchelstown. The late Michael was formerly an employee at the Grain Store, Mitchelstown. He was well known locally. His popularity was borne out in the large attendance at the removal on Sunday evening from O’Brien’s Funeral Home Mitchelstown to the Parish Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Monday. Interment took place to the adjoining cemetery. To his brother Liam, sisters Mary, Frances, relatives neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.


The death occurred at his residence Carey’s Lodge, Araglin, Kilworth, on July 28 of Pat O’Donoghue. The late Patrick had been in ill health for many years. A very popular member of the local community he will be greatly missed. His popularity was borne out in the very large and represented attendance that attended the family home on Sunday and the removal on Sunday evening to Araglin Church. There was also a capacity attendance on Monday for the Requiem Mass and burial. Interment took place to the nearby New Cemetery. To his wife Margaret (Nee Fennell), daughters Liz (Motherway), Carmel (Harnedy), Helen (Guickian), Anne (Herlihy), Margaret (White), Ita (Jones), Geraldine (O’Donovan), Maureen (Burke) Olivia, sons Liam, Paddy Tom, Eddie and Mike, sons in law, daughters in law, sister in law Kathy, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and many friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
