Don’t forget that the closing date for the Cahir Tidy Town Competition is Monday, August 13, and entry is €5. Entry Forms can be got from the Council Office at Erasmus Smith House, or from the Enterprise Center in Market Yard.
Cahir Tidy Towns had a very active week with trimming of hedging on Clonmel Road and weeding of beds around the town. There is great concern about some hanging baskets not being watered and they are going to die before their time if they do not get attention. It is safest to water every day even if it is raining as the rain sometimes does not get at the plants in the shelter of the buildings.
The bed in the Castle Car Park is looking good and it if frightening to say that it was the first time this summer that we got a few days back to back with dry weather. We will concentrate on the bed on the Mitchelstown road bed once it is finished.
We are also currently renovating the building in Market yard as this is an eyesore also and we seem to be on top of the litter situation. Once again, thanks to the TUS lads and the hard working volunteers who brave the elements every week. Thanks also to the council staff for their continued support.
The church gate collection was held at the weekend and thanks to the people of Cahir and surrounding areas for giving generously. Final amount collected will be published next week.
