Ballyporeen Community Council in conjunction with the V.E.C. will hold art classes in the Reagan centre from Thursday, October 11, 7pm to 9pm for six weeks. E15 payable on the night. Bring acrylic paints, brushes, and art pad and any picture you might like to try.

SCOIL TEAMPALL TOINNE

The AGM of the parents council was held on Thursday, October 4. Outgoing chairperson Pat Coffey gave an account of events during the year. He thanked the hard working committee for their work, the highlight of which was the setting up of the school library. Officers elected: Chairperson Ellen Mulhern, Vice chairperson Noreen Heaphy, secretary Paula Keegan, asst. secretary Mark McLoughlin, treasurer Brian Roche, P.R.O. Frank Macken.

WORLD HANDBALL

Best wishes to father and son Michael and Tiernan O’Brien who are heading off Thursday, October 11, to City West Dublin to take part in the world handball championships.

SYMPATHY

Sympathy to Eileen and Johnjoe Martin, Cooladerry, on the loss of Eileen’s sister Ann Hickey, Ballylanders. Ann’s removal took place from Ryan’s funeral home to the Church of the Assumption, Ballylanders. After requiem mass she was laid to rest in the local cemetery, may she rest in peace.

NATIONAL TRAILS DAY

National Trails Day was a success in Ballyporeen on Sunday, October 7. Blessed with great weather 63 walkers set off to explore the countryside around Ballyporeen and Killetin wood.
