Thank you to everyone who participated in the Kilsheelan annual Holly Walk last Sunday. All enjoyed a family day out and learned new walking routes. What a welcome awaited everyone in the KPLAN centre on their return and a huge word of thanks to all of the ladies who continue to excel with their culinary skills. Santa made a surprise stopover and had a gift for all children. Well done to everyone who completed this course.
A special thank you to Claire for allowing the buggy brigade walk through the castle grounds. Thank you to all of the stewards for their assistance and a special word of thanks to Alan Fahy for his array of photographs, which were entertaining the group on the television in the Centre. Thank you to Coillte for their co-operation in allowing the community the use of the woods. Part of the Holly Walk is to ask the youths to capture their memories of their day out by writing a short essay. Last year’s entries were posted on the wall of the centre and we look forward to receiving equally entertaining stories this year. We congratulate Nathan Keyes who spent 90 days last year confined to hospital and with the help of doctors since and his own courage completed the 4.6 mile walk, an incredible achievement after all he has gone through. Nathan’s burning ambition was to complete the local walk in the woods and what an achievement given the testing nature of this year’s walk. Well done Nathan and a very happy Christmas to you this year.
Every Saturday morning leaving Kilsheelan at 9am is a walk/jog for about a mile and a half.
The Goal mile fundraiser challenge will take place in Kilsheelan on Christmas morning at 10am. Santa hats, costume etc. welcome, no running records will be broken, all welcome.
