Congratulations - Congratulations to Ardfinnan NS pupils Luke O’Brien, Emmet Cowan, Mike Walsh and Conor Gallagher who did very well in the National Schools County Tipperary GAA Quiz. The boys did not finish in the medals, however they can hold their heads up high as the standard of answering was very high and they performed extremely well.

Sympathies - The Club extends is deepest sympathies to the family of Sean Maher, Lisheenpower, and Morristown, New Jersey, USA, who died recently. Sean was a member of the Ardfinnan team that won the South and County Senior titles is 1939 and was the last surviving member of this great team. Sean played most of his football at full back and corner back and was a fine player who also represented Tipperary at minor level from 1936 to 1938. When compiling our Club history in 2010 we had again occasion to contact Sean in the US, and he honoured us by compiling an article for inclusion in our book. He spoke very fondly about his time playing with Ardfinnan and supplied us with some wonderful first hand insight into this very successful era in our Clubs history. May he rest in peace.

Ardfinnan Tidy Towns would like to thank everyone that helped out this year. There was great work done in 2012 and this would not have been possible without the help of Fas and council workers. Thanks to our committee members and everyone that bought and sold our lotto tickets each week.

Congratulations to Cub Leader Michael Dempsey on becoming the County Commissioner of Scouting for this County. The Ardfinnan Cub Group recently travelled to Clonmel for a two-night sleepover. The Cubs enjoyed a board game night, swimming, a trip to the cinema and McDonalds, campfire songs and ‘Christmas Dinner’. Thank you to everyone who contributed to The ‘12 Days Of Christmas’ Tickets. Monies raised will be kept locally and will assist in the running of the Group.
