Carrick Road Runners are limbering up to stage the sixth annual Goal Mile through the streets of Carrick-on-Suir on Christmas morning.

Santa will be among the legion of runners and walkers who will be donning their runners next Tuesday for the charity run in aid of Third World charity Goal.

War-torn Syria is among the countries the charity is working in at the moment.

Ormond Castle will once again be the start point for the event, which kicks off at 11am on Christmas morning.

Volunteers from Carrick Road Runners will have a street collection for Goal in Carrick-on-Suir town centre this Saturday, September 22.

They will be wearing Santa hats and Goal Mile bibs.

The Goal Mile organisers have appealed to the people of the town and surrounding communities to make a donation to the collection. They have also urged the public to support the fun charity run/walk on December 25 by either taking part or cheering on the participants.
