Doodle for Google:
Congratulations Gabriela Pieczarka who qualified for the All Ireland final of the Doodle for Google Competition. Gabriela’s Doodle is now on display on the Google website since 18th February and the public will be able to vote for their Doodle from that date. We would encourage as many people as possible to vote for Gabriela. Her Doodle is in the senior category.
Also well done to Kornelia Guwca, Jordan Kirwan and Leah O’Donnell who qualified from 4,000 entries to reach the semi-final of the Doodle for Google.
Lauren Boyle, 1st Year student, has reached the semi-final of RTE’s Elev8 Talent competition.
Junk Kouture Fashion
Seven costumes from our TY students have been chosen to go through to the Regional Finals of Junk Kouture 2013. The Regional Final will take place in the University Concert Hall, Limerick on Thursday, 14th March.The theme of the competition is “Re-Use Re-cycle Re-Fashion”.
The online vote will take place between Monday, 25th February and Friday, 1st March.
Essay Writing Competition:
Congratulations to Aoife O’Farrell and Abbie Conway, both First Year students, who won prizes in a competition organised by Clonmel Library recently.
An Information Evening for First Year students and parents regards subject choice for Second Year will be held on Wednesday 27th February at 7.30pm in the Assembly Hall.
Annerville Award for Nora:
Congrats to Nora Doyle who received an Annerville Sports Award for Boxing recently.
Parents Council News:
Our Parents Council would like to thank everyone who supported their table quiz in Careys Bar, Irishtown. Thanks to Michelle and Michael Carey for their hospitality on the night and to our quiz master Pat Cullinane.
To everyone who donated spot prizes and took part on the night we say a sincere thank you for the support.
The funds raised from the night will go to Anne Butler Memorial Bursary Fund which supports Sixth Years starting Third Level Education next September.
Positivity Week will take place from Monday, March 4th to Monday March 11th. Events such as Zumba Dancing, Yoga, the ‘Pres Mile’ Challenge, Rounders Match (Students v Teachers),
‘Open Mike’ Signing Competition have been organised by the SPHE/RE/PE departments in partnership with Student Council.
The week will end with a cyber-bullying workshop for all students.
The focus during the week is developing an awareness of Positive Mental Health and Physical Fitness.
Cyber Bullying Talk:
An internet safety talk focusing on cyber bullying will be given by Dr. Maureen Griffin to parents on Monday, March 11th in the Assembly Hall at 7.30 pm. This talk is open to parents from all local primary and secondary schools.
