Ballyneale FC defeated Two-Mile-Borris 4-0 in the TSDL Division 4 League at his home grounds in Ballydine last Sunday.
Both teams needed a good result from this game, so the keenly contested first half was no surprise.
Enda Fogarty was taken down in the Two-Mile-Borris penalty area. He took the penalty kick but it was saved.
The defences of both teams were busy for the rest of the half.
Ballyneale FC got the breakthrough at the 40 minutes mark. After a goal mouth scramble, the ball fell to Marty O’Reilly.
Turning smartly, Marty put the team 1-0 ahead going in at the break.
In the second half, the pressure being applied by Ballyneale FC players caused the Two-Mile-Borris defence to make an error.
Enda kicked the ball in the net, bringing the score to 2-0 55 minutes into the game. Ballyneale FC’s players were well in control at this stage and Johnny McGrath powered home with a header from close range.
From yet another corner, Robbie O Brien headed home the ball from close range at the 90 minutes mark. The final score was 4-0.
Best for Ballyneale were Kevin Hogan, John Noonan and Marty O’Reilly.
