Another public meeting of the Tipperary Festival Committee will be held at the Tipperary Excel on Wednesday, May 8 at 7.30pm. All organisations, clubs and individuals are invited to attend as this year’s festival is rapidly gathering momentum. So come along, be a local patriot and have a bit of fun too

Literary Weekend

The Tipperary Excel is proud to present a literary weekend scheduled for May 24 to May 26.

The line up includes the memoir ‘Break a Leg’ by Peter Sheridan, readings from Poet Grace Wells and Author Frank Reidy, story telling for children by Mary Hickey and a number of workshops promoting Memoir and Poetry by Sheila Quealey. Course For You

KRC begins its 8-week course, an introduction to Welding and Computers with a specific focus on job-seeking skills. If you are on social welfare you will be eligible for this course. Places are limited so if you are eligible ring with your name and PPS number to secure your place.

A Hard Landscape Construction course is also starting soon on Friday mornings. This course will give you the basics of construction with some exciting projects to complete. This is a BTEI funded course so participants are eligible if you are an early school leaver or if you are on social welfare. Ring Trish or Josephine on 062-52688 to find out more.

KRC are now taking names for our Rainbows Programme, which will take place in September. Rainbows is a 10-week programme for children aged 6-12, who have experienced loss through bereavement or separation.

Daisychain Childcare Summer Camp will take place in July and August.

Clanwilliam Rugby Club

The annual general meeting of Clanwilliam F.C. will be held in

Clanwilliam pavilion on Friday, May 10 2013 at 7pm (sharp) and will be followed by a mass at 8.15pm in memory of deceased members of Clanwilliam F.C. also in Clanwilliam pavilion.


As part of the Bealtaine Festival film, the movie biography of the Bandleader Glenn Miller from his beginnings to his death over the English Channel in December 1944 is showing at the Excel on May 9 at 11.30am. The movie includes lots of his musical arrangements and an authentic cast starring James Stewart & June Allyson. 113mins. Admission: €3

Pride of Tipperary

The Pride of Tipperary committee has begun the search for the 2013 pride. Now in its 49th year, the Pride of Tipperary is truly a credit to the region that this fantastic event has stood the test of time.The committee are looking for contestants who represent the collective aspirations, social responsibilities and ambitions of young women from a variety of communities and backgrounds. This year’s event coincides with Tipperary Festival/Gathering 2013, “Meet the Grandparents”. The festival also includes street entertainment, live music, markets, funfair, fireworks and much more. The girl’s individual sponsors are an integral part of the Festival.
