Cahir Tidy Towns Group has stepped up the pace in a bid for extra points in this year’s competition.
A newsletter has been distributed to all businesses in town and we are asking for everyone to do some tidying outside their premises or hang a hanging basket or window box. Tidy Towns have an offer of €20 per basket but advise people that they are not obliged in any way to purchase from us. There are plenty suppliers in the area with good offers.
There are paint offers also and plenty local contractors that will be only too willing to price. Most of the time a wash to a front of the premises is all that’s needed.
The competition closing date is May 24 and we can expect judging any time after that. We will also have entry forms for the Local Competition towards the end of May and this is proving to be a popular event. Details of the categories will be also announced later.
Tidy Towns have extended the offer of Litter Packs to any groups wishing to take part in a cleanup in their area and these can be collected on Wednesday evenings from 7pm.
There are some ducklings appearing on the river now and it’s great to see the enjoyment that so many children getting so much fun feeding them. Last week was sign cleaning and pooper scoopers week. This week will be spraying and painting and doing some weeding.
Tidy Towns will meet at 7pm as usual. Reminder that the Memorial Garden will be planted and opened on Sunday, May 19, at 2pm and that this project sold out within a fortnight. There will be no spaces available on the day but do come along and be part of this project.
