Cahir people were delighted to welcome the Milwaukee hurling team to Cahir last Monday.

The visitors had a great tour guide in our own Vinnie Moloney who lives in Milwaukee. Later that day, they travelled to Semple Stadium for a training session with Brendan Cummins and Eoin Kelly.

The skill level among some of the American hurlers was amazing and we could do with some of them playing for Cahir.

Crunch game
Our senior football team will play the County Preliminary Quarter-Final on Friday under lights in New Inn at 7.30pm. It’s knockout from here on and Cahir will have to up their game considerably to progress to the last eight. This team have lost vital games this year and last year by single scores, but if we hit form on the night, we are well capable of causing an upset.

We lost to Eire Og Annacarty by a goal in the County League, Saturday, in a game we could easily have won. The Club would like to express sincere sympathy to Pat Barrett and his family on the death of Pat’s wife Noreen. Noreen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be sorely missed by all her family and friends. May she rest in peace.

Congratulations Ballingeary ICA on the wonderful job of producing a book about Ballingeary School and organising the gathering event in Cahir House Hotel on Friday last. It was great to see so many of our former players in attendance. The school was a hive of activity all through the weekend and the ladies did a brilliant job in providing refreshments for all the former pupils and people of the surrounding areas who visited the school. It was great to see such a strong community spirit in action and this was reflected by the generosity of Willie and Jenny Kiely and family who continue to make the former school-house available to the local community.

The draw the joker took place in Cahir House hotel on Sunday. The jackpot was not won so it is up to €4,400 for the draw next week in the Hill Bar at 9.30pm.
