U14’s Ladies Football
Cappawhite 1-2 Thurles Sarsfield’s 1-2
After losing their first game to Aherlow, the U14 ladies played the second game of the B competition on Saturday afternoon last away to Thurles Sarsfields. They were trailing by 1-2 to 0-1 at half time and it would have been more only for the Trojan work of the back line. However in the second half the Cappa girls came out a different team and fought back to within a point. They were unlucky not to equalise from a fourteen yard free in the dying minutes.
The team were as follows: Aoife Lennon, Elizabeth Kennedy, Shannon Brehony, Aoife O’Brien, Sinead White, Elaine Kelly, Ornaith Hennessy, Gene Kelly, Orla Dee, Chloe Renehan, Lauren Hayes, Sarah O’Brien, Aisling Buckley, Éadaoin White and Sarah Pollack. Subs: Bhahnaid Cummins for Sarah Pollack, Rachel Ryan for Éadaoin White. Ava Renehan.
Cappawhite now go on to play Lattin Cullen in the final game of their group and will have to win this to have any chance of qualifying.
U16 Ladies Football
Cappawhite 4-12 Aherlow 4-3
The U16’s played their first game away to Aherlow under the shadow of the beautiful Galtee mountains on Bank Holiday Monday last. This game proved to be very entertaining and a sweet revenge for the U14’s who lost to Aherlow a few days before. Cappawhite were lucky to be in front by two points at half time after wasting many opportunities from numerous wides. However they came out in the second half determined not to lose the game. Aherlow fought their way back into the game to take the lead however it was Elaine Kelly who proved to be the hero and kept the Cappa girls in it with well timed points and goals. Well done to all on a great performance.
The team linout were as follows: Sarah O’Neill, Emma Quinn, Shannon Breheny, Aoife Meagher, Niamh Loughman, Sinead Cummins, Sinead Buckley, Deirbhle Hennessy, Shauna Quirke, Karen Fox, Vicki Buckley, Leanne Hayes, Éadaoin White, Jenny Maher and Elaine Kelly. Subs: Megan Walshe for Emma Quinn and Gene Kelly for Éadaoin White.
