Bus shelter arrives at long last

The days of getting drenched by rain at the windswept bus stop on Carrick-on-Suir’s Pill Road are over as the long awaited bus shelter is now in place.

The shelter has been provided thanks to E12,000 funding from the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sports Smarter Travel Initiative.

Labour Senator Denis Landy, who campaigned for years to secure the shelter, said a large number of people use this bus stop every day in Carrick-on- Suir, particularly students going to college in WIT and for years they endured the bad winter weather with no shelter whatsoever.

“I am particularly pleased that this work has been carried out and that at long last travellers and particularly students can avail of this facility to keep them in out of the elements of the weather during bad winter months” he said.
