BURNCOURT COMMUNITY HALL REFURBISHMENT

BURNCOURT COMMUNITY HALL REFURBISHMENT

As work begins this week on the replacement of the floor in Burncourt Community Hall, there will be no access to the hall until the project is completed. The community hall will be out of bounds from this Tuesday, February 14, and it is hoped that the new floor will be in place and the hall will reopen in a month. Thanks to all the groups who use the hall for their patience as this vital work is being carried out.

SPONSORED WALK

To kick start the fundraising towards the replacement of the floor in Burncourt Community Hall, a sponsored walk will take place on Sunday, March 4. Sponsorship cards will be distributed this week and it would be appreciated if you are willing to take a card or sponsor a walker.

Deputy Mattie McGrath is holding a public meeting in relation to concerns raised about the future of small schools on this Thursday night, February 16, at 8.15pm in Cahir House Hotel. Ms. Breda Fitzgerald, Principal of Newtown National School, will address the meeting.

There was an enthusiastic gathering at the start up meeting for Burncourt’s Parent and Toddler Group last Thursday. As soon as the community hall is reopened the group hopes to meet one morning a week. Enquiries to Mags Keating 086/3241169.

SEWING CLASSES

The sewing classes got off to a great start last Thursday night with sewing machines whirring along. The classes will relocate to the National School for the next few weeks. Our thanks to Pat O’Callaghan for the use of the school facilities.

METAL SCRAP FOR FR SHEEHY’S

It’s Spring Cleaning time and Fr. Sheehys GAA Club would like you to pledge some metal scrap to the club. We can arrange to have it collected or it can be dropped off direct at the club grounds on two Saturdays, February 18 and 25. Please help us out on this for much needed funds.
