Scout meetings resume
All sections of the 3rd Tipp Scouts are resuming activities at Carrickbeg Parish Community Centre after the summer break.
Beavers will meet there next Monday, September 17 at 6.15pm and the Cubs will be on the same evening at 7.15pm.
Scouts meet on Saturdays at 7.15pm and the Venturers on Tuesdays at pm.
Brewery Lane cabaret
Brewery Lane Theatre will present “Life is a Cabaret”, an evening of laid back entertainment with Liam Butler and Bridget Nolan accompanied by Eamon O’Malley this Thursday, September 13 at 8pm.
The show will be staged in the intimate back room of the Theatre and will feature an eclectic mix of musical theatre, classical, pop and story songs. Admission is €12 at the door on the night and can be booked at the Heritage Centre, Main Street, telephone (051) 640200.
Carrick-on-Suir Community Business Centre is taking names for a new Beginners Plus computer course that will focus on improving word processing and spreadsheets skills.
It will be a six-week course, one night a week commencing in October.

Parishioners in Carrick-on-Suir are very pleased to have the St. Nicholas Church radio working again especially those, who are unable to attend Masses. The Meals-on-Wheels service has resumed. Anyone interested in availing of the service should telephone (051) 645151.
The annual church gate collection in aid of the Carer’s Association takes place this weekend, September 15 and 16.
Blood donor clinic
An Irish Blood Transfusion Service blood donor clinic will take place at the Carraig Hotel, Carrick on Suir next Tuesday, September 18 from 5pm to 8.30pm and on Wednesday, September 19 from 3pm to 5pm and from 7pm to 9pm.
Chernobyl charity agm
The agm of the Carrick-on-Suir branch of Chernobyl Children Ireland takes place in the Carraig Hotel on Wednesday, September 19 at 8pm.
New committee members are required to take over the running of the branch, namely organising events and fund raising so children from Belarus can continue to visit Carrick and the surrounding area in the future.
Ramblers back in action
Rathgormack Ramblers are on the hike again after the summer holidays.
Anyone interested in joining the group should check out the walks schedule on website www.rathgormackramblers.blogspot.com.
The Ramblers usually do two walks each month and occasionally do a third. Next walk is in the Wicklow Mountains next Sunday, September 16. It will be a 11km, four-hour trip up Luggala.
The group will venture on a 17km, five-hour jaunt along the Barrow Way from Borris to St. Mullins on Sunday, September 23.
Anyone interested in booking a place on the minibus for this walk please contact Emily or Mick. The Ramblers will also do a 15km leg of the East Munster Way from Clogheen to Goatenbridge on Sunday, October 7. Last season the Ramblers went on two walking weekends, one overseas and it is planned to do something similar in 2013.

Set dancing festival
The annual “Dance by the Comeraghs” set dancing festival takes place this weekend in Rathgormack Hiking and Community Centre.
The Festival features Striolan Ceili Band on Friday at 9.30pm; Swallows Tail Ceili Band on Saturday at 9.30pm and Pat Walsh and Tony Dunne on Sunday from 3pm to 6pm. A Set, Sean Nos and Jive Workshop with Gerard Butler takes place on the Saturday from 11am to 4pm.
Raffle tickets will be on sale during the festival to win a free stay in Longford for the Sean Og Weekend.
Meanwhile, set dancing classes have resumed every Tuesday in Maudie Kennedy’s Bar, Rathgormack at 8pm.
