Carrick Swan U-14 hurlers were beaten by Mullinahone in the South (B) final last week after a terrific game of hurling between two evenly matched teams.
The Swan team trailed by a point at half time and the breaks never went their way in the second half. Mullinahone scrambled home two goals while the Swans missed a number of opportunities that came their way.
The Swan Club congratulates Mullinahone on their win and compliment its own panel of players and selectors on their commitment and effort throughout the year.
Meanwhile, the U-10 hurlers took part in a county blitz in Thurles last Saturday. They performed well winning five out of six games and drawing the other.
The U-11s travelled to Cobh for a hurling blitz the same day and enjoyed the competition. They won the shield section and each player received a medal.
The Club sincerely thanks the host club for their invitation to participate and for their hospitality.
Carrick Swan U-12 hurlers will play St Mary’s in the South final in Clogheen next Sunday at 12 noon. The Club wishes them the best of luck.
Numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto draw were 1, 3, 21 and 23.
There wasn’t any winner of the jackpot prize of €4,000 and two players matched three numbers to win €100 each, namely Thomas Roche, Marian Avenue and Brigid O’Neill, Castle Heights.
Carrick Swan Club thanks all those who continue to play its lotto draw and reminds those who might like to join that weekly entry costs €2 and this can be paid to any committee member, or any lotto promoter, who will call to collect the fee each week. This week’s jackpot prize is €4,250.
Carrick Swan Club extends its sympathy to the family of the late Larry Dineen of Tramore and Fethard, who died recently. Larry lived and worked in Carrick-on-Suir in his early years and played for the Swan Club with distinction.
