Village committee meeting
A meeting of the Marlfield Village Committee takes place next Monday night, 17th September in St. Patrick’s Chapel at 8pm. There is an interesting agenda for the meeting and there may also be news on the voting in the Entente Florale competition.
The heads of the script for the proposed Marlfield Heritage Trail will be circulated to the committee members at the next village meeting. There are 12 areas of interest and it is hoped to construct a heritage trail of the village, which would take about two hours to cover and is about three kilometres in length. Marlfield had a toll charge on its road as it was on the main Cork Road back in olden times and this may be one of the information panels.
Wedding bells were ringing in Cambridge on Saturday, 1st September for Andrew Lennon, eldest son of Catherine and Bernard, when he married Irenka Suto of Hull. Andrew and Irenka were married in Fisher House by Fr. Alban McCoy, OFM, with family and friends present for the happy occasion. The reception was in Trinity Hall and afterwards the newlyweds departed for a continental honeymoon before taking up residence in their house in Cambridge. All in Marlfield village wish them a happy and long life together and are looking forward to seeing them on holidays.
