The long wait is no more. Gaelic games have been an integral part of life in Kilsheelan- Kilcash since its foundation. During that time quite a number of County Football titles were annexed but a hurling title at adult level eluded us. This was all to change in Boherlahan last Sunday when the Junior “A” Hurling team had a well deserved win over Moycarkey- Borris, 1-8 to 0-9. This was a very sporting contest from beginning to end. It was a great team effort in which every player showed great tenacity and discipline in a tense and exciting game right to the final whistle. There were jubilant scenes when the Cup was presented by County Board Chairman Sean Nugent to his fellow clubman and team captain Shane Prendergast. Team: Ian Coughlan, David Corcoran, Jimmy Ryan, Kevin Larkin, Conor Davin Murphy, Shane Prendergast, Donnacha Lonergan, Bill Maher, Willie Ryan, Tommy Ryan, Niall Walsh, Pakie Larkin, Edward Sweeney, John Roche and Adrian Walsh. Sub: Alex Harte for Edward Sweeney. We congratulate the team, the extended panel and the injured players who also played their part in this historic success all year. Well done also to the backroom team of Sean Nugent Jnr, Michael Ryan, Liam Corcoran and Derek Hogan. Thank you to the crowd of Kilsheelan supporters who made the journey and gave their vocal support.
Congratulations to Sean Connolly who was presented with a Sean Gael Award last Sunday in recognition of a lifetime of service to the GAA.
Clonmel High School suffered a three point defeat to De La Salle in the Harty Cup. Kevin Guiry, Tadgh Lonergan and Paul Maher all saw action on the day.
KILSHEELAN CHURCH MASS TIME CHANGE
At the last change of mass times in Kilsheelan (Gambonsfield) church we promised a regular review of the new times. After ongoing consultation with the parish council, it is now felt that 11.15am would be a more appropriate time for Sunday mass in Kilsheelan. We hope this time will be suitable to our parishioners and apologise in advance for any inconvenience which may be caused by the change. From the first Sunday in Advent, December 2, mass will be at 11.15am. The 6.15pm mass on Saturday evening will remain the same as will the 10am in Kilcash.
The rosary in Templeteney old graveyard will be recited, weather permitting, at 2pm on Sunday (25th).
The pre Christmas meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 4, at 8.30pm in the Parochial house.
