Writer and poet John McKenna will read from his latest book the poetry collection “Where Sadness Begins” at Carrick-on-Suir Public Library next Wednesday, November 28 at 7pm.
Mr McKenna is the author of 15 books ranging from novels, short stories and memoir to biography and poetry.
He is the winner of numerous awards including the Irish Times Fiction Award, the Hennessy Award, the Cecil Day Lewis Award and a Jacobs Radio Award for his documentary work with Leonard Cohen.
His latest work ‘The Space Between Us’ was short listed for the Kerry Group Irish Book of the Year.
His current poetry collection published by Salmon Poetry, is a four-part collection of poems that deal with the personal and general.
The first section is greatly concerned with place, the second with the death of his brother, the third is written exclusively in the haiku format and the closing section returns to the more personal landscape of love and relationships.
John McKenna writes of the deeply personal, and his style is one of openness and accessibility.
