COMMUNITY TEXT ALERT

The community alert committee wish to extend an invitation to all families to the launch of the community text alert scheme in the parish, in Knockavilla Community hall this Thursday, January 31, at 8pm. Representatives from the Gardai and Muintir na Tire will attend. It will also be possible for any person not yet in the text scheme to sign up on the night. This will be an opportunity for all parishioners to meet up for a social cuppa, so all are welcome.

PRIMARY SCHOOLS QUIZ

A reminder about the annual primary schools table quiz which takes place in Knockavilla hall on Friday, February 22, at 7.45pm. This quiz is open to all schools. The categories in the quiz cater for third and fourth class who play for the community council shield, while the winners of the fifth and sixth class category will claim the Michael Breen perpetual trophy. The entry fee is E12 for at table of four. All schools are welcome to send as many teams a they wish. This table quiz has proven to be a great success down the years.

MOLL AT THE MARIAN HALL

Following its two night run in Donohill, John B Keane’s finest comedy will play for one night only at the Marian Hall on this Saturday, February 2, at 8pm. Featuring local actors, Dan Kelly, Bobby Russell, Mary O’Dwyer (Donohill), Majella Doody, James Bishop and Philly Ryan Whip, it is produced by Paul Maher (0874135228). Tickets at the door €10, concessions €8; children and students €5, family ticket 2+2 €22. The show will run for 75 minutes without an interval.

KICKHAMS GAA

White Collar Boxing - Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams and Clonoulty Rossmore will meet in a novel fund raising event in Dundrum House Hotel on Saturday, February 16 when 15 of our finest pugilists meet our counterparts from Clonoulty Rossmore GAA club in a White collar boxing tournament that is being billed as “The Bust up in the Ballroom.” Ticket details from Paul O’Dwyer on 0834090680 or O’ Dwyer’s Bookmakers Dundrum 06271433. Membership’s Night - All players, selectors, officers etc have to be fully paid up members of the club before getting involved in this coming season’s activities. For insurance purposes non members will not be allowed to play or be involved in the selection of teams. A memberships night will be held in the GAA Clubrooms Dundrum on Friday, February 8, from 8pm to 9pm. Membership fees – Adult player E50, U18 and juvenile E10, Adult non player E25. Texts will issue and reminders of this membership’s night will be posted on the Kickham Facebook page as well as the Dundrum News.
