A lot of hard work was put in behind the scenes. The Committee would like to commend each venue for helping to run the events so efficiently. Primary Care Meeting.

Around 35 people, between staff of the HSE Clogheen Primary Care Team and representatives of local community and voluntary groups, were in attendance at a meeting in Burncourt Community Centre on Thursday afternoon, 10th February to share information about Primary Care and the range of voluntary supports and services contributing to the welfare & wellbeing of people in the community. Jointly chaired by Bridget Farrell, HSE Transformation Officer responsible for the roll-out of Primary Care Teams around the county, and Ruair Caislein, HSE Community Development Worker, the meeting had representatives present of Community Councils, Community Alert, youth groups, the G.A.A, FS schemes and other bodies variously from Araglin, Skeheenarinky, Ballyporeen, Clogheen and Burncourt. Muintir na Tre; St. Teresas Hospital, Clogheen; the South Tipperary Community & Voluntary Forum; and South Tipperary Sports Partnership were also represented at the meeting. The various disciplines and professions on the Clogheen Primary Care Team - Public Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and G.P - were similarly well-represented. A key message from the meeting was that Primary Care is about both the medical care from the professionals and the supports in the community and that it is important to foster the links between them to ensure a holistic approach to health. The Community Centre and its facilities were kindly made available by John Butler, Burncourt Community Council, who along with Margaret Fox, also a Council member, and Siobhn Maher, was very helpful in the organisation of the meeting.
