Killenaule Artist

Congratulations to Keith Blake, Kilbreedy, Killenaule who has been named overall winner of Texaco’s Children’s Art Competition, beating entrants from 32 counties. Keith’s striking self portrait titled “Warm Place” will be on show at an International Exhibition in Japan this year. Keith is son of Martina and Dinny Blake, Kilbreedy and is a very popular lad in the area and hopes to study Art after sitting his Leaving in June. Wishes from all in Killenaule to Keith in all his Art Work in the future.

Garden Club

Guest speaker at the April monthly meeting of the Club was Bertranda Delaney who spoke on many aspects of preparing for flower arranging such as colour, shape, form and space, conditioning plant material followed by demonstrating floral arrangements – traditional and modern. Lucky winners of Floral Arrangements Raffled – Mary Ryan, Mary O’Connell, Lily Barrett, Helen Dunne, Eleanor Dolan, Lena Slattery and Alice Tobin. Thanks to the Ladies who catered on the night.

Lourdes Invalid Fund

ICA Monthly Meeting

Will be a Day Trip to Kilkenny on Tuesday, May 3, some sightseeing, shopping, evening meal at Langtons Restaurant at 6pm. Coach leaves at 11am sharp.

Social Afternoon on Sunday, May 8 in St. Mary’s Hall from 3pm – 6pm; includes dancing, entertainment, and afternoon tea. Non Members Welcome. Charge €5.00


Monthly Meeting of Active Retirement members will take place in St. Mary’s Hall on Thursday, May 5 at 2.30pm. Small collection will be taken up on the day supporting Alzheimer’s.

Afterschool’s Programme.

The Afterschool’s Programme is designed for primary school children. The children will learn new skills in a fun filled environment; where they will mix with children from different areas and make new friends.

Computers- Mondays (6-9 year olds) – commencing May 9

Children will learn all aspects of computing from turning on the computer; to working with Microsoft Word and Paint; printing, saving etc. Each child will have their own computer. Only 4 places remain.

Music Lessons (Tin Whistle) - Tuesday (6-9 year olds) – commencing May 10. Children will learn how to play the tin whistle in a fun environment trained by a professional music teacher; tin whistles supplied by centre. Only 3 places remain.

Creative Crafts – Wednesdays (6-9 year olds) – commencing 11th May l 2011

Children will learn painting, make & do and much, much more. Only 5 places remain.

Music Lessons (Bodhran) - Tuesday (6-9 year olds) – commencing 12th May 2011.

Children will learn how to play the bodhran in a fun environment trained by a professional music teacher; bodhrans supplied by centre. Only 1 place remains.

Each Afterschool’s Programme runs for 5 weeks (from 3.30 p.m. – 4.30 p.m.). Then there is a one week break and the programme commences for another 5 weeks.
