The Easter bunny hopped into Carrick-on-Suir’s Town Park for a visit on Easter Sunday as children searched high and low around the park for delicious chocolate eggs.
A traditional Easter egg hunt was the hightlight of a fundraising afternoon in the Park in aid of the charity, Autism Ireland and the bunny was on hand to meet the children joining in the hunt.
Children who attended the afternoon festival also had fun drawing pictures with chalk on the pavement and getting their faces painted.
Delicious home baking and locally made jewellery were also on sale.
The event along with a disco in the Carraig Hotel on Easter Sunday night was organised by Karen Walsh and Jessica Hannigan, who are hoping to take part in an Irish Autism Action cycle from Geneva to Monte Carlo from May 26 to 31.
Karen estimated their efforts on Easter Sunday raised about €650 and they will be organising another fundraiser in a few weeks time.
She stressed that even if she and Jessica don’t collect the €4000 target required to participate in the cycle, all the money they have raised will go straight to the charity.
Karen and Jessica are raising funds for Autism Ireland because they both have close relatives with autism.
