President officially opens Ballymacarbry homes

President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, made a stop in the village of Ballymacarbry on Monday morning, to officially open the beautiful, new housing scheme for the elders of the community - Cluain Cairbre.

President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, made a stop in the village of Ballymacarbry on Monday morning, to officially open the beautiful, new housing scheme for the elders of the community - Cluain Cairbre.

Residents were delighted to meet with the President, who was shown a very warm welcome, especially by the pupils of Ballymacarbry National School and the committee of Ballymacarbry Elders Housing Association.

Presidnet McAleese paid tribute to the strong spirit in the community that saw the building of the homes and an impressive community centre.
