The Scouting Group hold a parents’ AGM on Tuesday, June 25, in the Community Centre, Ardfinnan at 8pm. The Cub Group held a three night Summer Camp in Parsons Green recently. Highlight was a day trip to Fota Wildlife Park.

Area Mass

An area Mass will be held in St Finnan’s Ave on Wednesday, June 19, at 7.30pm.


The village awoke to the sad news of the passing of Annie Coffee on Friday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. May she rest in peace.

Ladies Football

U6/U8 training Thursdays 5.15pm to 6.15pm on the green. The u12 team played Moycarkey in the County Quarter Final on Saturday last but were defeated.

The u14s played Galtee Rovers in the County Final on June 3 in New Inn, winning 2-9 to 2-2.

The Intermediate team beat Moycarkey in the League Semi on Friday, May 31, in Clonoulty. They then had to turn around and play the League Final on Monday 3rd against Aherlow in Ballylooby. Unfortunately Aherlow were too strong on the night.

Old School Festival Weekend

Friday, June 28. 5-a-side Soccer Tournament from at 5pm. Entry €20. Saturday, June 29. 1pm to 6pm School Reunion and Gathering. Photographic display and refreshments. 9.30pm - Ceili in the Marquee. Admission €10. Sunday, June 30. 12.30pm Vintage Show and family fun day. Admission free. 9pm - Roundy’s Traditional Music Night. All musicians are welcome to join us. Admission Free.

Tidy Towns

Thanks to all community members who are making a great effort for the judges’ visit to Ballingarry. We ask you to be extra vigilant for litter.

Community Games

Ballingarry Parish Community Games held their athletics evening on Monday, May 27, in the Commons Sports field. All eligible children have been entered in the Tipperary Community Games athletics finals to be held in Templemore on Sunday, June 23. We also have participants in the boys and girls long puck competition. Our community games hurling, football and camogie teams took part in the early rounds of the competition with the hurlers having the best run, winning a number of games before being eliminated in the south final. The camogie team were also defeated in their south final. Last Sunday our u12 and u14 skittles teams played won their county finals in Clonmel. Both these teams now go forward to the Munster finals in Tralee.

Parish Gathering

In conjunction with the Famine 1848 Walk to The Warhouse, The Commons, and The Larry Wall Fitzpatrick Memorial Festival, we invite all to join us on the weekend of July 27/28. If you have relatives or friends abroad, invite them home to Ballingarry that weekend.

Community council

Thank you to everyone who turned up to O’Caseys last Thursday to help us celebrate our 50th birthday. It was great to see such representation from all the clubs, also the local ladies clubs and our friends from Clogheen. The radio programme goes on air on this Thursday, June 20, at 8pm and is repeated on Saturday at 10am on Tipp FM.


Ardmayle Heritage

Ardmayle Ancestry Trail Weekend to mark the year of the Gathering. Friday, August 16: 3pm Official opening of Art and Craft Exhibition at Ardmayle Church. The church will be open between 3pm and 5pm. Saturday, August 17: 3pm to 5pm the church will be open for viewing of the exhibition.

Fundraising cakes

In aid of Global Schoolroom is in the Parish Hall after 11am Mass this Sunday, June 23. All cake donations will be gratefully received and there will also be a raffle. Global Schoolroom is a charity which trains teachers in India.

Scoil San Isadoir

End of Year Mass on Thursday, June 20, at 10am in Boherlahan Church. Congratulations to the great camogie teams who won the U11 Roinn A county final and the U13 Roinn B county final in Semple Stadium last Thursday and Friday. The school has 19 pupils enrolled for September and are not taking any more applications.

St John’s Eve Bonfire

Will be held in the churchyard in Ardmayle this Sunday, June 23, at 7.30pm. All welcome to partake in this ancient custom of jumping the fire and celebrating midsummer.

Annual Outing

The annual Ardmayle Heritage Society outing will be to Clonmel and St. Patrick’s Well on Saturday, July 13.

Historical Journal

All the articles for this year’s production have now been completed. Membership fee E10 due. Please give to any member of the committee. In the year of TheGathering a number of insightful articles have been received from people whose roots are here but now live far from their native Boherlahan Dualla.

Parish Sports

We had a wonderful evening last Thursday. Thanks to all who entered into the spirit of the occasion and who helped in the organisation, the teachers, parents and members of Boherlahan Parish Council.

Dualla NS

Dualla NS Parents Association holds a table quiz on Friday, June 21, in the Community Hall, Dualla at 7.30pm. Tables of four: €20 adults, €10 children. Children must be accompanied by parents.

Galtee Rovers – St. Pecaun’s

Last Saturday our intermediate hurlers were defeated by Newport. Our next games are against Rockwell Rovers and Cahir, and we soon play Sean Treacy’s in the West semi-final. This Saturday the juvenile club will hold a car wash fundraiser at Cussen’s Filling Station, Bansha. After the recent mucky weather this is an ideal opportunity to spruce up your car and support our club.

Open Garden

Breda and James Hayes, Lisnagaul, Bansha, open their garden to the public in conjunction with Tipperary Flower & Garden Club, on Saturday and Sunday, June 22/23, 2pm to 5pm. Entry €5. Golf Society

The Bansha Kilmoyler Golf Society had its first major of the year, the Captain’s Prize, last Saturday, June 15, in Dromoland Castle Country Club. 18 played. Next outing on July 20, Presidents Prize hosted by our President Marcus Magee at Adare Golf Club. Tee time 11.50am to 12.40pm.


Rural Culture

South Tipperary Rural Arts Group hosts the first International Festival of Rural Arts and Culture on Thursday and Friday, June 27/28.

The festival starts with the opening of ‘The River Culture Pop Up Space’, on Thursday, June 27, at 7pm in Burncourt Community Centre, €3. This is a celebration of local food and river culture and will include an exhibition and a ‘smokery’ demonstration.

Artist Deirdre O’Mahony from Clare will give a talk on the X-PO Project, which she initiated in a former rural post office in Kilnaboy in 2007 and shows the potential of arts and culture to revive rural areas.

‘Inspiring Rural Creativity’ seminar in the community centre on the Friday will present examples of initiatives which tackle the issues of arts and cultural promotion and provision in rural areas. Burncourt NS

Burncourt NS Parents Association would like to thank all who supported the Church Gate collection. The school will close at 12.30pm on Wednesday, June 26, for the Summer. Best wishes to Ciara Fitzgerald, Andrea Conway and Dylan O’Brien as they move on to Secondary School.

Camogie Champs

Congrats to Brian Borus U12s County Camogie Champions. They beat Cahir in the County League Camogie Final last Wednesday 4-6 to 0-1. Training Monday 7pm, for all ages, in Ballylooby.
