Gerry Flynn, a retired teacher at the Loreto Secondary School in Clonmel who is president of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors, has advised students to take care when making life-changing choices.
“Students should select courses based on their genuine interests,” he said.
“A lot of people tend to look at courses in terms of the current economic climate.
You could have a totally different economic landscape by the time a course is completed four years later”.
Second round offers by the Central Applications Offfice (CAO) for places on higher education courses will be released on this Thursday, 29th.
