An end of year special awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of Transition Year students and to mark the success of students from all class years took place in the CBS Secondary School in Carrick-on-Suir at the end of the academic year.

Teachers, students and family gathered in the main hall in the company of special guests former pupil Michael Nolan, a chartered accountant, and John Casey, Chairman of the Carrick-on-Suir Credit Union, sponsor of the ‘Student of the Year’ awards.

Principal Billy O’Farrell and Deputy Principal Myles Mitchel welcomed everyone, introduced the special guests and congratulated the students whose talents, commitment to study, business projects and sports had earned them county, regional and national awards and recognition.

Principal Billy O’Farrell spoke of the great pride the students had brought to the school, which reflects the collective input guidance, support and teamwork of all involved.

The evening of celebrations and awards was also a poignant one as students and teachers remembered Transition Year student Thomas Kennedy, who died recently.
