The Association are pursuing several issues. Both bridges in the locality are in need of repair. The Goatenbridge signs on all entrance roads to the village need to be replaced. The timber railing at Ballybacon is to be repaired and replaced and it is hoped that further car parking spaced may be provided. The River Bank on the Goatenbridge/ Newcastle Road needs to be addressed and the red/ white barriers removed. We thank our local representatives, Council Officials and BN & B Community Employment Scheme for their ongoing assistance on helping us to progress these issues.

The Club will hold its annual Mass for all present and past members in Ballybacon Church on Tuesday, September 4 at 7.30pm. The shooting season begins on Saturday, September 1. Aughnacurraveel, an eight year old gelding bred by Liam Walsh in Lodge, won the Gorey Qualified Riders Race in Wexford on Friday, August 24. Trained by Tom Cummins and ridden by Declan Lavery, the horse was backed from 16/1 to 7/1 before the race. Aughnacurraveel, son of Tajrassi has now recorded his sixth career win with four of these on the track. He had won two point-to-point races prior to his debut on the track. Well done to owner Alice Cummins, and all the connections.
