Reconstruction work at Oola Railway Bridge resulted in traffic disruption and a certain amount of confusion for motorists using the N24 during the past week. This was the case particularly for those travelling from Tipperary Town, who were required to turn off at Monard Cross and travel on to Cullen, where poor diversion directions and the absence of signs for Oola and Emly, resulted in some vehicles continuing on through the village along the very narrow and hazardous Rocky Road. Unable to turn, and having travelled many extra miles, some of these motorists eventually rejoined the main road near Pallasgreen. Interestingly, these motorists were following the old route which had linked Tipperary and Limerick up until the early years of the nineteenth century.
Kids Ark Preschool reopens on Monday, September 3, at 9am.
Cullen-Lattin’s B team got the new season off to a winning start in Aisling Park last Sunday with a 2-1 victory over newcomers, Tipperary Town B, in the quarter-finals of the Division Four Shield. A very poor first half performance at the end of which they trailed to a 22nd minute goal, was followed on the resumption by a much improved display with plenty of goal scoring opportunities and two fine goals from John Breen and Keith Bourke. The team are away to Dualla next Sunday. The A Team, whose match against Ballingarry was postponed due to a bereavement, will play Galbally in Cullen.
The ladies team will contest the divisional cup final against O’Brien’s Bridge in UL this Friday evening at 7.30pm. As this is the team’s biggest match of the season, it is hoped that plenty of locals will travel to lend their support.
The new season for St David’s will commence this Saturday when the U.10s will entertain Pallas at 3pm. The underage teams and Cullen B team will play their matches at Knockane Cross.
LATTIN CULLEN GAA
Sympathy - Lattin-Cullen GAA Club expresses their sincere sympathy to the Murnane family of Ballinglanna, to Clare Quinn and family on the death of her mother, to Siobhan Nash on the death of her aunt and to John O’Brien (Tipperary Hurler) on the death of his brother. May they rest in peace.
Under 8 Girls - Our U8 girls played two great matches against Oola in Lattin on Saturday, August 25. Both sides fielded two teams with six players each. There was a great display of skill and determination and players and parents enjoyed the day. The small number of players on each team meant that every girl was involved throughout the matches. Lattin Cullen: Leah Carew, Michelle Doherty, Vicky Collins, Emma Kiely, Jasmin Lane, Caitlin Duddy, Kate Power, Ellie Ryan, Aine Carew, Aileen O’Farrell, Abbie Collins, Patricia Ryan and Peigi Carrie. Special thanks to Bronagh and Jade who played.
Junior Ladies - We took on Clonmel Og in the fourth round of the Championship last Sunday evening in Lattin. We were missing a few girls on the evening but came out winners in the end. Our last match is next weekend V Cahir or St Albies then it goes to semis stage. Training continues.
Hoodies - Club Hoodies are available at the moment for all ages. Contact Danny 0862569284 or Georgina 0876767090.
