Carrick-on-Suir’s school leavers donned their tuxedos and ball gowns to celebrate the end of their school days at debs balls over the past month.

Students from two of the town’ secondary schools, Comeragh College and CBS Secondary School, chose hotels in Kilkenny for their deb balls while the girls from Scoil Mhuire headed down the road to neighbouring Clonmel for their bash.

Comeragh College were the first off the starting line for their ball, which took place in the Springhill Court Hotel just outside Kilkenny City on Wednesday, August 8. The school has hosted its debs ball at this hotel for the past seven to eight years.

Seventy-five Leaving Cert students and their guests danced the night away at the ball to music played by Beat FM DJs.

Comeragh College Principal Pat Callanan said the ball went extremely well and paid tribute to the good behaviour of all the students on the night.

Scoil Mhuire Secondary School was next to hold their debs ball. The Greenhill girls chose to stay local. An estimated 128 young men and women enjoyed the ball at the Clonmel Park Hotel on Friday, August 10.

It was the turn of the boys from CBS Secondary School to have their debs ball last Wednesday, August 22.

The Ormonde Hotel in Kilkenny City centre was the venue for the function attended by 55 guests and the music was provided by Carrick-on-Suir DJ Gavin Keogh.
