Emly receives regional Tidy Towns award

The Tipperary village of Emly was presented with the overall South East region Tidy Towns award at a ceremony in the village yesterday (Wednesday).

The Tipperary village of Emly was presented with the overall South East region Tidy Towns award at a ceremony in the village yesterday (Wednesday).

Minister of State at the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government Fergus O’Dowd and Ray Kelly of the competition’s sponsors SuperValu presented the award to the village’s Tidy Town’s Committee at a ceremony in The Golden Thatch in Emly.

Emly also won a gold medal in the national Tidy Towns competition and were joined in the Gold Medal category by Carlow Town, Clonegal and Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, Kilkenny, Co. Kilkenny and Lismore, Co. Waterford.
