An extra €95,000 has been allocated to extend a planned cycleway for Clonmel.
Funding of over €450,000 was already approved by Public and Commuter Transport Minister Kelly for a cycle track and footpath that’s now being provided between the Cashel Road and Ballingarrane along the N24 inner relief road.
However due to savings achieved by the County Council, the Minister is able to allocate €95,000 to extend the proposed project by half a kilometre. The construction works will now be extended from Heywood Road to the Cashel Road roundabout, where more usage is expected.
“Given the savings that have been achieved in the overall project, it is welcome that this project can be extended and more people will be able to use it once constructed. The €95,000 funding will see the overall cycleway integrate better with the road network and make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists alike,” stated the Minister.
