Ballyneale FC earned a place in the semi-final of the Peter O’Reilly Cup by defeating Vee Rovers last Sunday.

Ballyneale FC earned a place in the semi-final of the Peter O’Reilly Cup by defeating Vee Rovers last Sunday.

Vee Rovers are the Third Division leaders and Ballyneale beat them 1-0 at their home grounds at Ballydine.

The Ballyneale players took the game to their opponents from the start and deserved to the victory.

In the first half, Ballyneale gave minimal chances away and created a few of their own.

Their performance in the second half was similar with the Vee Rovers goal keeper much busier than his opposition counterpart.

Ballyneale finally made the breakthrough with extra time looming.

Tom Kennedy scored the goal 87 minutes into the game following some good build up play.

While the team now look forward to the semi-final draw, a more important tie in the league awaits them next Sunday, January 20.

It will be an away game to joint league leaders, St Kieran’s.
