RECENT DEATH

It is with sadness and regret that we accord the death of William (Billy) Hally, Rathokelly, Newcastle, following a short stay in STGH. In his 70s he was a quiet, unassuming man with many fine qualities. When you met Billy a pleasant greeting was always forthcoming, as he loved to chat. His favourite pastimes were looking after his wonderful garden and being a very intelligent person he always had plenty of books, he loved to read. For most of his life he worked in the Ardfinnan Woollen Mills and gave a short time with Moy Insulation, he was highly respected in both work settings. A devout Catholic he was a lifelong member of the Pioneer Association. He lived his life for the welfare of his wife Lizzie and children Johnnie, Helen and William. He will be sorely missed by them. His remains were removed to Newcastle church on Thursday evening. Following requiem Mass on Friday morning celebrated by Fr Desmond P.P assisted by Fr Power Ardfinnan burial took place in Newcastle cemetery.
