Last Saturday night darts enthusiasts made their way to Gibbs’ pub in Ballypatrick for the annual Tommy Cahill Memorial Dart Tournament. 26 players participated and after some very close matches the stage was set for the final between Paul Prout & John O’Connell and Eoin Ryan & Mick O’Connell. In this best of seven decider Paul and John took the first two games. However, Eoin and Mick fought back and took the next two to level matters. After finishing on the losing side last year, John was not to be denied as some very high scoring throws from John and Paul saw the pair emerge victorious by four games to two. Incidentally, this is John’s fifth time to be part of the winning duo since the competition started in the early 1970’s. Thanks to Paddy O’Halloran for his support and hospitality and we hope all enjoyed themselves. Childrens Quiz on April 8, more details next week.

Following a County Board directive our Senior Football championship match against Clonmel Og was postponed to a later date. However, this gave us the opportunity to play a back match in the County League when we had a home match against Moyle Rovers. Both sides were under strength and it was a chance to give the extended panel a run. In the first half our side matched their illustrious opponents all the way and at the interval it was 0-4 each. Moyle Rovers dominated the third quarter and looked set for an easy win. Kilsheelan stuck to their task and a goal by half time substitute Conor Murphy kept us in touch but at the final whistle it was Moyle Rovers who ran out winners by 1-9 to 1-6.

Team: Cathal Fitzpatrick, Naoise O’Cuinneagain, Shane Prendergast, Johnny Cahill, Senan O’Halloran, Willie Ryan, Pakie Larkin 0-1, Jimmy Ryan 0-1, Eoin Ryan, Ross Larkin, Paul Denn, Edward Sweeney 0-1, Ian Coughlan 0-1, Donnacha Lonergan 0-1, Pierce Larkin 0-1. Subs: Conor Murphy 1-0, Colm Sweeney, John Noonan, William Larkin and Shane Columby.

The first update of this years score prediction competition is now available on our website. After the first five events, once again, it looks like it will be a hotly contested competition with fourteen people on 31 points and no one getting full mark. Regular updates will be available as events unfold.

Congratulations to Mary Purcell Cooloran who was a recent winner of €200. With one draw remaining hopefully one of our subscribers will come up trumps.

This weekend we have a further match in the championship against Fethard. See fixtures for confirmation.
