Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society’s talented singers and dancers will be doing their bit to entertain the public at the Clancy Brothers Music & Arts Festival.

The Society is staging a special show called “Best of Broadway” at the Strand Theatre on Friday night.

As the name suggests, the show will feature songs, music and scenes from famous Broadway musicals.

“We have hits from shows never performed in Carrick-on-Suir before like Ragtime, Funny Girl and The Wiz and many old favourites as well,” said Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society PRO Padraig Sheehan.

“All the talent of the Society will be performing along with some special guests,” he added. Tickets for “Best of Broadway” cost 12 and can be purchased by contacting the Strand Theatre (051) 645050.

Meanwhile, the Musical Society’s production of Annie starring children from its Academy of Performing Arts finished its three day run at the Strand Theatre last Saturday. The show was a great success and all credit is due to the Academy’s wonderful students who did their parents proud. The Society thanks all who helped out and the parents for all their support.

A vote of sympathy was passed at a meeting of the Society’s committee to the family of the late Bobby Power.

Bobby had many connections with the Musical Society and sympathy is extended to his wife Mags and family and his mother Peg and family.
