Search is on for town’s best kept housing scheme

Clonmel Borough Council is inviting applications from residents associations for a competition for the best kept housing scheme in the town.

Clonmel Borough Council is inviting applications from residents associations for a competition for the best kept housing scheme in the town.

The competition is intended to encourage pride and care in the areas in which we live, and to increase the chances of winning the Tidy Towns Competition.

Prizes will be of vouchers for the Clonmel Garden Centre, and will be awarded as follows -The Best Overall Scheme - €600; Schemes of between 50 houses or more - €450; Schemes of between 25 houses and 49 houses - €400; A Special Merit Award for Best Council Scheme not included above - €250; Consolation Award for Effort - €200.

Estates will be judged under the following criteria - Visual appearance; Levels of voluntary and community co-operation; Youth participation; Significant progress on enhancing areas; Absence of litter; Planting of shrubs, flowers, and gardens; Visual aspect of the houses in the scheme; Absence of unsightly objects; Colour and colour harmony in the estate.

Applications must be received in the Council’s Environment section before 4:30pm on Friday, 19th August.
