Tipperary Relay for Life Committee will hold Relay 2013 in Toomevara GAA Grounds, on 24th and 25th August.
This is a 24 hour community-led event in aid of the Irish Cancer Society’s Services and Research programmes, during which people walk, talk, reflect and have the opportunity to take part in various events and ceremonies.
It will be a fun occasion, 24 hours of celebration, with something for all ages. It is not only about fundraising, but also about raising awareness in our community of how we can reduce the risk of developing cancer by promoting healthy living.
It is the community coming together in solidarity and sense of common purpose, in the face of an all-too-common threat.
Says chairman Jerry Crohin - “So what is there to celebrate, you might well ask, in these difficult times? Life! The gift of life. A core dimension of Relay’s comprehensive mission in relation to Cancer is the joyful celebration of the wonder-full gift of life. We remember with loving respect those who have been taken from us, through this illness, and offer our support to those who have ever had a diagnosis of cancer. We express special appreciation, too, for the generous work of Carers”.
Apart from attending Relay and enjoying the fun, humour and silliness of the activities, as well as its very special ceremonies, what else might you do? Enter a Team. Join a Team.
