Carrick Davins Senior hurlers will renew old rivalries with Munster Club champions, Thurles Sarsfields, in a Seamus Ó Riain Cup tie at Clonmel GAA Grounds at 6.30pm on Sunday.

This is not the first clash in Clonmel for both these clubs. The Davins played a star studded Thurles Sarsfields team in the 1965 county senior hurling final, which ended in a draw. The Sarsfields team included Jimmy Doyle, the Murphys, Kanes, Tony Wall, Sean McLoughlan and Mickey “Rattler” Byrne, while the Davins stars were Jimmy, Tommy and PJ Ryan, Mick Roche and Jackie Walsh.

Little has changed 48 years on as Thurles Sarsfields team includes many inter county stars and heroes but the Davin team are well prepared and up for the challenge.

The Davin Club hopes South division hurling fans support this game. The entry fee will be only €5.
