The Photography Day Workshop will be held on Saturday, March 10, in the Community Hall, starting time 10 a.m. Bring your camera, notebook, and a light lunch. The members attending the gym in Ballymacarbry are really enjoying the programme with excellent guidance from Chris. Every good wish to our members who have not been well recently. Thanks to Mary O’Loughlin for a great table quiz and well done to all for joining in the fun. Next meeting as usual second Wednesday in March (14).

BADMINTON CLUB

Newcastle Badminton Club will hold a fundraising tea/coffee evening in the Community Hall on Monday, March 12, from 8pm to 10 pm. Tickets €E4.

SCOR SINSEAR

The County Final of Scor Sinsear was held in Clonmore on Saturday, March 3, and our figure dancers Rosie McCarra, Ciara Gough, Sinead Grant, Treasa McGrath, Shauna Ryan, Leah Condon, Veronica McNamara and Catherine Ryan are now wished the best of luck at the Munster Semi-Final in Tallow on Saturday, March 10.

G.A.A. SCRAP METAL

If anyone has any scrap metal that is not required, the GAA Club is again collecting it. To have the metal collected, please contact Michael Keating at 087 6121351 or William Devaney at 086 2468432 as soon as possible to arrange collection.

COMMITTEE MEETING

A meeting of the Club Committee will be held in the Clubrooms on this Wednesday, March 7, at 8 p.m. All committee members are requested to attend.

MEMBERSHIP

Club membership for this year is now due. The cost for the year is €E40 for adults, €E10 for O.A.P. and students and €E5 for juveniles. There is also a family membership available for €E80 to include two adults and two juveniles under 16. To ensure receipt of membership cards, please pay the membership fees as soon as possible.

UNDER 8 FOOTBALL BLITZ

Two teams of under 8 footballers from Newcastle travelled to Ballylooby on Saturday, March 4, to participate in a blitz. Considering it was the first blitz after the winter break, both teams played some great football. Well done to all the young players, and parents for all their help. Players were: Cormac Butler, Leah Hassett, James Dennehy, Ryan Jones, Tommy Kiely, Cian Slevin, Caleb McLean, Tiernan Cremmins, Tadgh Guinan, William Hislop, Jack Kelly, Saoirse McCarra, Fionn O’Dwyer, Joshua McLean, Stephen O’Connor, Cian O’Reilly.

IT TRAINING

Muintir na Tire through the Celtic Community Link in association with FIT are involved in the delivery of a digitally inclusive project in South Tipperary. The project is delivering basic ICT training for people using a specially designed 6-hour training programme called First Steps to IT. The criteria for inclusion in this programme are anyone over 55, the unemployed and/or disadvantaged and there is no cost attached for the person enrolling in the course. The programme is made up of a module on Internet and email and there are optional introductory modules to digital photography, Internet-based voice/video communication, online banking and online government services. Training will take place in the IT Centre, Newcastle, Clonmel. For more information about the course or if you wish to enrol please contact Mandy at (087) 1846393.

BASIC FIRST AID COURSE

Deferred until Monday, March 12 - a Basic First Aid Course will run in Tigh na nDaoine for six weeks on Mondays from 9.30am to 12.30pm. Cost of course is E30 and further CPR/Defibrillator training can be done after completion of this course. Limited spaces available. Contact Mandy (087)1846393.

MEN’S GROUP

A Men’s Group meets every Tuesday morning from 10.30am to 1.30pm for a social morning of a game of cards over a cup of tea/coffee, a game of rings/darts or whatever the group are interested in.
