Last week was a very busy one for our club with the junior hurlers beating Cahir on a score of 2-20 to 0-10 on Thursday night in Cahir in the county junior hurling league. This was an excellent result just two weeks ahead of the first round of the south championship opener against Newcastle. We were due to play Sean Treacy’s on Saturday night but this game did not happen as we received a walkover from them. On the same night our under 16 footballers lost their south semi final against Ballingarry on a score of 1-10 to 1-07 after extra time. They played well at times but too many missed scores on the night meant they paid the price in the end.
We lost the South Minor C Football final on Friday evening against a very powerful Carrick Davins side on a score of Ballylooby/Castlegrace 2-07 Carrick Davins 3-08. All except four of our team had played in the defeat against Ballingarry the previous night in the south under 16 semi final which went to extra time so it was a gallant effort by the players who once again gave it their all but couldn’t get the third goal that may have won the game for us. William Dunne ended up scoring 2 goals and 5 points in a man of the match display. This is a very young team with most still under 16 and must now look forward to the county series after the leaving cert. Well done but hard luck to all involved ye did the club and yourselves proud.
Our Under 14 footballers had a great win when playing Carrick Davins in Ballylooby last week. They scored a total of 9 goals to win on a score of Ballylooby/Castlegrace 9-04 Carrick Davins 5-11.
After a great win in the last round of the south intermediate football championship our lads are hoping to build on this next Saturday 19th May when they take on Grangemockler/Ballyneal in Ned Hall Park at 7pm.
