JUVENILE GAA

Congratulations to the U12 A panel on defeating Moycarkey Borris in the Mid Final of the Go Games football competition. The match was played in Boherlahan last Saturday in glorious sunshine. From the throw in to the final whistle it was played at a relentless pace and in a very sporting manner. The final score was Boherlahan 4-08 to Moycarkey 1-08, a true reflection of Boherlahan’s capabilities. Each and every one of them played their hearts out and were gallantly led by their captain Patrick O’Dwyer who had a man’s game. Their fitness levels and team play were unreal and all showed the same winning attitude. The defenders were relentless with their marking, the centre fielders covered a lot of ground and blocked and fought for every ball, our forwards were very accurate and had super speed with Cian Bargary scoring three goals and two points. Our only female player Casey Hennessy showed how she has more than earned her place amongst the lads. The next stage for them will be the County Finals which are been held this weekend in Semple Stadium, date and time to be confirmed. Panel: Stephen Walsh, Patrick O’Dwyer, Jack O’ Riordan, Martin Paul O’ Dwyer, John Ryan, Joshua O’ Dwyer, Kevin O’Connor, Tom Clarke, Mark Downey, Cian Bargary, Casey Hennessy, Niall O’ Dwyer and Pauraic Clarke.

SENIORS: Our Seniors defeated Holycross in Round 3 of the Mid Senior Hurling Championship last Sunday at the Ragg. The full time score was Boherlahan 0-13 to Holycross 1-07. In a must win match, a strong wind played havoc to both sides play from the outset. At the break, the sides went in Boherlahan 0-03 Holycross 1-07. Boherlahan played a better second half and were victorious at the full time whistle.

Friday, June 15, will be the official opening date. A Memory Display Board is being planned and we would love to get old photographs, hear old stories and anecdotes about “to school through the fields”. We really wish to hear from the senior people of the parish who attended or were associated with the school. Put a few words down on paper and search old cupboards at home for old photos. You may hand any of these in to the school or sacristy at any time (the sooner the better!).
