The finals of the annual Arthur Dunne Tournament took place last Saturday, September 29. The members of the cup winning side were Sinead Dunne, Anthony Culhane, Mark Lowry and Richard Swords. The winners of the plate were Dave Fanning, Ashling Fanning, Jim Kissane and Domnic Hayes.
On the night our chairperson Raymond O’Brien made a presentation to Francis Breen for his contribution to the club. We, as a club, are grateful to Francis for all his work and dedication to the club and we wish himself and his wife Teresa health and happiness for the future. Our 60th Jubilee Celebration took place after the finals in The Village Tavern. A cheque for €400 was presented to Kay Dunne as a donation to the Senior Citizens Fund. Kay spoke of the difference this money makes each year and of how grateful they are to the tennis club. Another cheque for €400 was presented to PJ Maher as a donation to the Lourdes Fund. Finally, we wish to thank all the players who entered our charitable tournament and thanks to everybody who supported our Jubilee celebrations.
A table quiz to raise funds for Fr. Denis O’Brien SCA and his missionary work in Colombia, South America, will take place this Friday night in the Idler Bar, Knockane at 9.30pm. Table of four €20.
Both junior team were in action last Sunday, the A Team advancing to the next round of the Munster Junior Cup with a 2 – 1 victory over premier side, Wilderness Rovers. The team will once again renew rivalry with St Michael’s in the next round in Aisling Park. The B Team also had a successful outing in Division 4, defeating Peake Villa’s B team by 3 – 0 in Knockane. It was a good all round performance by the home team with Chris Power, Michael Kenny and Tommy O’Connor on the score sheet. Next Sunday the A Team are away to TwoMileBorris in Division 1, while the B Team are at home to TwoMileBorris B team. The U8s played Pallas last weekend and are due to play again next Saturday in Cappamore at 2pm. The U11s play in Kilteely at 3pm, the 13s are in Cappamore at 11am and the U15s are in Hospital at 12.30pm.

Sympathy - The club would like to express our sympathy to Sharon O’Dwyer on the death of her aunt.
Ladies Football - U12s traveled to Templemore last Saturday. We won three matches against Portlaoise, Moycarkey and Templemore.
U12 County Development - We had six girls attend the County Development last Sunday. Next Week is last week of Registration.
U14 - The 14s attended the Templemore Blitz. We played Templemore A and B Team, Thurles and Portlaoise. We won two, drew one, lost one.
