D’HILLBILLIES DANCE

D’HILLBILLIES DANCE

Nearly 1,000 cowboys and cowgals gathered in their check shirts and boots at D’hillbillies Barn Dance held just outside Mitchelstown on Saturday night.

It was a night to remember for good music, plenty of feet stomping dancing and a gathering of all ages from 19 to 90. Whether it was the novelty of a real live farmyard or the energetic enthusiasm of all the organisers who sold so many tickets. The Barn theme caught the imagination of revellers in Mitchelstown-Fermoy and further afield.

The event was held for the Partners in Learning community development group who link the community of Mitchelstown with the parish of Mbula in Uganda to build a relationship that facilitates both communities to learn from each other and follow their own socio economic development plans. The event was in association with the Curraghagalla Community Group who put their hearts and skills into making the event the success it was.

CBS trailed all through the game but came back within a point with two minutes to go. CBS had two wides in injury time that denied a draw or even a close win. The final score was 2-11 to 0-16.

On Friday last CBS were involved in the Munster Under 16 & a half HC against Salesian College, Pallaskenry, in Hospital. The Limerick side aided by the very strong wind led 4-5 to 0-3 at half time. CBS tried hard on the resumption but the Limerick defence held firm. In the end Pallaskenry emerged winners by 4-10 to 0-5.
