An appreciation of the late Joan Moore
Joan, from Knockgraffon, was a wonderful sister and sister in law, a loving partner, a fabulous aunt and a true friend. She had a fantastic personality and lived life to the full. Throughout her life she cared for both young and old and she had a very special relationship with everyone who was lucky enough to know her. Joan was sacristan of Knockgraffon Church for many years and fulfilled this task with her usual dedication and good humour. When Joan joined the Womens’ Group she was rarely without a full diary and somewhere to go. She was the life and soul of every gathering and never failed to deliver a party piece especially her rendition of “Paper Roses.” Joan was also a vocal member of the Parish Council and the Irish Wheelchair Association. Over the years she was a constant figure in the lives of all her family, collecting nieces and nephews from school, babysitting, cooking dinners and giving advice. We all valued her opinion and Joan was never afraid to give it. Joan was always on the road, be it visiting relatives or friends for tea and a chat or running errands for those not well enough to do it themselves. She lived to help others and was a born carer despite her own frail health. She will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
