The much anticipated Club Christmas Party took place in Ballykisteen Hotel on Friday night last and was thoroughly enjoyed by the 40 plus people who attended.

It was a feast of eating, some drinking, singing, dancing and chat which lasted late into the evening. Thanks to Breda Ryan for all the hard work and dedication she put into organizing the event as well as everything else she does for the club throughout the year. Thanks also to Conor Ryan for providing the great music, to the other guest performers and to the staff and management of Ballykisteen.

Most people had recovered by Sunday and the two club walks were well attended despite the dull misty conditions. Joe Browne’s A walk saw 13 people start from Galtee Castle to begin a loop, which took in the Blackrock Valley, the summit of Lyracappul (825 metres), and Bengower before descending through the Glounreagh Valley and following the river back to the car park. Thanks and well done, Joe.

Amelia Ryan lead the C walk to Lough Curra from the meeting point at Clydagh Bridge taking in the forest paths past Saunder’s Lodge, the grassy knoll where gravity seems to be slightly stronger than anywhere else and the old Ice Road to the lake. 28 people took part with 3 of the more experienced extending their walk to also take in Lake Diheen. Thank you Amelia.Next Sunday’s A walk is a Galtee Loop starting from Clydagh Bridge at 10am with leader, Cliona Tuohy and the meeting point for David Stapleton’s 3 hour C walk is Woodies car park, Clonmel at 11am.
