The cast and crew of Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society’s West Side Story were delighted to welcome back director Liam Butler to rehearsals last Monday.
Liam has been very busy lately directing one of his favourite musical’s, Evita, for Ballinrobe Musical Society.
Carrick Musical Society wishes the cast and crew of Evita the best of luck with their production. Some West Side Story cast members are
going to travel to see this production over the weekend.
Back in Carrick-on-Suir, rehearsals are in full swing and all the technical aspects of the production are being added in. The stage is ready, the set is complete and painted.
Liam is pleased that a lot of rehearsal work has been done in his absence. He commented that most of the show was ready for the stage and an audience. And there is still two weeks to go before opening night, for the final polish to be applied.
He was very high in his praise of the cast for their dedication to the rehearsal schedule while he was away. He was very pleased that most of the principles were able to recite their lines without their scripts being held like a safety blanket in the actor’s left hand.
Once again, the Society appeals for hairdressers to help style the hair of the large cast. Anybody who is vaguely interested is invited to pop into the theatre.
Tickets for the show went on sale on St. Valentine’s Day. Ticket booking has been extremely brisk. So if you haven’t been to the box office yet to reserve your tickets, get your skates on and buy them now.
The Muscial Society Mass will be celebrated in St Nicholas Church on Sunday, February 24 at 12 noon and in St Molleran’s on Sunday, March 3 at 11am.
