New Inn youth club attended a soccer tournament in the Ursuline Thurles on Saturday, April 27. 12 teams took part. They played Littleteton A, Cappawhite B, Littleton B, Cappawhite C. We went to penalties and won. Semi - final, New Inn - 0 Cappawhite A - 1.

LAGGANSTOWN COMMUNITY ALERT

Held a fun walk on Sunday, April 21, and a great day was had by all. Thanks to all those who supported us.

NEW INN & DISTRICT VINTAGE CLASSIC CLUB

will hold its Annual Run on Sunday, May 12. The run is open to vintage cars, bikes, and all tractors welcome. This year all proceeds will be donated to the two primary schools in New Inn to raise funds to help alleviate running costs. Registration at Barron’s from 10.45am and leaving at 12 noon. Returning to Barron’s for refreshments, raffle and entertainment. Any queries contact John 0876860884. Meeting on Friday, May 3, at 9pm in the NICC.

TIDY TOWNS

The first of the “Clean Up” nights started last Tuesday, meeting at 7pm in the convent car park, and will continue every Tuesday up to June. Lots of work to be done and more volunteers are needed so spare an hour of your time and don’t forget your shovel. All help and support is appreciated.

LAGGANSTOWN SCHOOL REUNION FUNDRAISER

A Joint Table Quiz will be held in New Inn on Friday, May 10, at 8.30pm in all three pubs, Barron’s Pub, Ollie’s Bar and The Rovers Inn. Tables of four €20. The School Reunion is taking place on the weekend August 2 to 4.

PILATES

for over 55s or for rehabilitation. Mainly gentle chair pilates, some standing work. A challenging pilates workout is easily performed while seated or standing. Strength training helps improve balance and the ability to participate in daily activities. Starting on Wednesday, May 1, at 11.15am in Cashel (O’Brien’s Cashel Lodge). A meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 7, at 8.30pm in the NICC. Topic for discussion is “Health Check”. Membership fees will be taken on the night. Zumba classes every Tuesday.

NEW INN FESTIVAL COMMITTEE

At the AGM of the Festival Committee officers were appointed - Chairman: Kevin Barron; Vice-Chairman: Pat O’Brien; Secretary: Esther Boland; Assistant Secretary: Breda O’Donnell; Joint Treasurers: Kay Lonergan, Tommy Buckley and Eileen Hally; PRO: David Morris. The Festival will take place this year on Sunday, June 16.
