Marlfield village scored well in all categories in this year’s Tidy Towns competition.
An increase of four marks reflects the emphasis put on the built environment and landscaping. In the words of the judges, Marlfield is a natural and distinctive landscape setting that does not need much intervention, with mature trees and young trees and its splendid stone walls.
Mountain View was well presented, tidy and grass areas maintained to a high standard and it has a beautiful setting on the slope facing the mountains.
The wildlife and natural amenities were also very favourably commented on and the standard of signage appreciated. The beginnings of the heritage and bio diversity trail are evident and when completed with the 18 lectern signs will be a definite plus.
